Tupac on our experiment. Our experiment was answering the question household surfaces have the most bacteria on it, we tested 4 areas the toilet seat, kitchen sink, food chopping board, and front door handle.
I am a Year 8 student at Ahipara School in Northland, NZ. I am in Room 3 and my teacher is Mrs Takimoana.

My science project
This term we had to make science posters about a science experiment we had to do. I worked with
Tupac on our experiment. Our experiment was answering the question household surfaces have the most bacteria on it, we tested 4 areas the toilet seat, kitchen sink, food chopping board, and front door handle.

Why plastic bags should be banned.
For a few weeks, we have been writing persuasive pieces in preparation for the speech competition, this is my opinion on why plastic bags should be banned.
Plastic bags should be banned
Plastic bags are everywhere and why shouldn’t they be? They’re cheap and easy to use and when someone is finished using them they can dispose of it in the trash. But this useful piece of plastic, like most other plastics, is the reason for many environmental problems in today's generation. Such as the melting icebergs, and climate change. So get ready because this piece of writing will convince everyone that plastic bags should be but a faint memory.
Plastic bags pollute our oceans and land
Plastic bags are usually lightweight, because of this, they can travel long distances from either wind or water. The wind blows these plastic bags and trashes the whole area, they get stuck in fences, and float in water bodies which leads them straight to the sea. World wide 13.000-15,000 pieces of plastic are dumped into the sea every day. This leads to many marine animals that die every year.
Plastic bag production drains our oil supply
Habitat destruction, fossil fuel emission, and plastic pollution are all ways that plastic is destroying Earth. But have you thought of how much oil it takes to produce this plastic? Well, it’s estimated that 12 million barrels are used to manufacturer the 30 million plastic bags that Americans use every year, that's the equivalent of our strategic oil reserves! It is a complete waste of natural resources and contributes to climate change.
The production of plastic bags uses a lot of energy
Oil isn’t the only resource you need to produce plastic you also need energy, lots of energy. It takes the same amount of energy for a car to drive 1 km as it does to produce nine plastic bags. It is not rational that these non-renewable resources are being used on something that has an average life span of 10 minutes.
Conclusion
In conclusion, plastic bags are dangerous to the environment and consumes a lot of valuable resources. They might be cheap but they are a huge reason the world is dying, and should and should have been eradicated from planet Earth long ago.

Persuasive writing Why homework should be banned
Lately, we've been writing some persuasive writing in preparation for our upcoming speech competition. This persuasive writing tells my opinion on why homework should be banned.
Why homework should be banned
Homework, we all dread it, this repulsive piece of paper is the worst thing your teacher can give you as it keeps your stress levels high and robs you of your sleep. No one willingly does their homework but are forced to by their parents. So stop everything because by the time I’m done homework will be no more.
Homework leads to less sleep
Studies suggest that too much homework can cause students (mostly teens) to stress, that combined with trying to get high scores in tests can lead to many serious problems like sleep deprivation. Which can negatively affect the students' performance in class.
Homework interrupts our relax time
The second reason students shouldn’t be given homework is that they need time to rest and take their mind off of school work. With all the things you do during school students should be given time to relax and spend time with family and friends. Because they’ve spent the day solving hard math problems and writing explanations so bombarding them with lots of homework will burn them out.
Homework consumes free time
As stated before, students need time to spend with their family and friends sadly homework eats up all the time children have to do these things. And for older students homework is even more of a nightmare as lots of them will have part-time jobs which will make it a complete nightmare to finish.
Conclusion
This is why I think homework is the worst punishment that a student must endure during their time at school, and should never have been created in the first place.
