Plastic bags should be banned
Plastic bags are everywhere and why shouldn’t they be? They’re cheap and easy to use and when someone is finished using them they can dispose of it in the trash. But this useful piece of plastic, like most other plastics, is the reason for many environmental problems in today's generation. Such as the melting icebergs, and climate change. So get ready because this piece of writing will convince everyone that plastic bags should be but a faint memory.
Plastic bags pollute our oceans and land
Plastic bags are usually lightweight, because of this, they can travel long distances from either wind or water. The wind blows these plastic bags and trashes the whole area, they get stuck in fences, and float in water bodies which leads them straight to the sea. World wide 13.000-15,000 pieces of plastic are dumped into the sea every day. This leads to many marine animals that die every year.
Plastic bag production drains our oil supply
Habitat destruction, fossil fuel emission, and plastic pollution are all ways that plastic is destroying Earth. But have you thought of how much oil it takes to produce this plastic? Well, it’s estimated that 12 million barrels are used to manufacturer the 30 million plastic bags that Americans use every year, that's the equivalent of our strategic oil reserves! It is a complete waste of natural resources and contributes to climate change.
The production of plastic bags uses a lot of energy
Oil isn’t the only resource you need to produce plastic you also need energy, lots of energy. It takes the same amount of energy for a car to drive 1 km as it does to produce nine plastic bags. It is not rational that these non-renewable resources are being used on something that has an average life span of 10 minutes.
Conclusion
In conclusion, plastic bags are dangerous to the environment and consumes a lot of valuable resources. They might be cheap but they are a huge reason the world is dying, and should and should have been eradicated from planet Earth long ago.
